Ever After from Light & Wonder arrives as an October 2018 release. It is built around symbol transformation and expanding wilds.
The action unfolds on a fixed 5x3 grid. Wild symbols substitute for regular paying symbols, while Expanding Wilds stretch to cover entire reels when they land.
Symbol Transformation converts certain symbols into other symbols, which can change the outcome of a spin. Scatter symbols count wherever they land. Free Spins open a bonus round played without further stakes. A retrigger can renew a bonus round.
The 95.46% RTP sits below the 96% industry average, meaning the house edge runs slightly higher than average. Medium-high volatility translates to sessions characterized by fewer hits and longer dry spells between meaningful payouts. Patience and adequate bankroll headroom become necessary. The 4,860x max win represents a mid-range ceiling, neither disappointing nor exceptional.
The Fantasy, Gothic, and Royal themes converge to create a dark fairy-tale atmosphere. The Gothic element adds brooding undertones beneath the royal grandeur. The fantasy component allows for magical embellishments throughout the presentation.
Ever After earns its 4/10 rating through competent but unremarkable execution. The expanding wilds and symbol transformation deliver periodic excitement, yet the below-average RTP and fixed 5x3 grid feel constrained. Players who appreciate straightforward mechanics without overwhelming complexity may find value here, particularly those drawn to dark fantasy aesthetics. Others seeking expansive grids will find little here. Try the free demo to gauge whether this Light & Wonder slot suits your preferences.
